The people who make up Bonneville (past and present), their character, skills and passions are some of the best ingredients in what makes the place so compelling. I was reminded of that reciently when I found one of Dean Moons' photo albums in the vast storage unit some people call a basement. Around the mid eighties I did the two illustrations shown above for Dean Moon and somehow the third illustration of the Moonbeam lost steam after Dean passed away. When Tony Thacker put me in touch with Shige Shuganuma at Mooneyes in order to return the photo album, the subject of completing the Moonbeam art work came up and now it is underway. I was up at Bonneville last year and photographed the Mooneyes modified roadster it looked wonderful in that early morning light. Dean was a photographer and I think he would have enjoyed shooting that car.
